Also, below is an example of EPA fining a contractor who did not hand out the renovate right booklet. Sometimes it is hard to understand the liability of the homeowner when they hire someone who has not had the training on this new ruling. Stay on the cautious side, get knowledgeable, make sure that you know about lead-safe work practices and make sure when you hire someone, they have had this training, and more immediately that the tenant is now receiving the Renovate right booklet., when work is being done on an older home.
I get this question a lot form property owners. They say most times they renovate when the property is empty. Remember if you do not renovate right, and clean up right, you will leave lead dust behind, or spread lead dust around on the interior and the exterior. This does pose a liability when tenants move in, but also to neighbors.

Pine Bluff Arsenal is one of six locations in the nation where chemical weapons are stockpiled. The United States Congress has ordered that these weapons be eliminated in the safest manner possible.
The Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP) was established to enhance the emergency preparedness in communities around the chemical stockpiles until the stockpiles are eliminated.
Pine Bluff Arsenal stores a blister chemical agent called mustard. The agent is stored in a high security area in earth-covered concrete structures called “igloos.” The agent is closely monitored.
The Pine Bluff Arsenal communicates daily with Jefferson and Grant counties and the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management to inform them of activities involving the stockpile.
